Nicolette Goguen Nutritional Therapist

I’m rooted in the belief that achieving a healthy balanced life can be fun!

Hi, I'm Nicolette

Registered Nutritional Therapist (mBANT, DipION)

I’m a nutritional therapist and health coach who helps busy, go-getting, take-on-too-much dreamers transform the food and lifestyle patterns that lead to chronic health issues, diminished vitality, and burnout.

In a supportive, non-judgmental, and compassionate space, I help my clients uncover the true underlying causes of their symptoms, transform their health and wellbeing, and build new lifestyle habits that serve their bigger dreams in a way that feels balanced, flexible, inspiring, and fun.

It’s my mission to share the knowledge, tools, insights, and encouragement to help my clients cultivate a nourishing and flourishing life that they love.

Nourishment was anything but a priority for me

I’ve had a lifelong love of food – so much so that I married a chef! But I used to struggle to see food as an opportunity to fuel my body with the nutrients it needed to be healthy.

As someone passionate about my work, curious to learn new things, and always saying “yes” to new projects, I lived in a continuous state of feeling over-scheduled and overwhelmed. It seemed like there was never enough time.

Not being a planner by nature, I found the entire process of meal planning and preparation stressful, and I felt tired all the time amidst an unrelenting schedule and a lifestyle that frequently meant putting my own health and wellbeing last.

Until I hit burnout

So many of us put a tremendous amount of pressure on ourselves to achieve, and the first thing to fall to the way-side is our health. We think we can ‘push through’ life and ignore the body’s warning signs.

This was certainly the case for me, as I thought I could hold down a senior corporate leadership position, support several new family businesses, study, and raise small children, while surviving off caffeine, sugar, and sheer tenacity.

Until one day my own health gave way. I was so disconnected from my body, I didn’t realise how unwell I was until things became quite serious, and all brought on by years of stress, nutrient depletion, and neglect of my own wellbeing.

I learned nourishment is about more than feeding the body...

Giving up on our dreams is not an option, but making the right nutritional choices is, allowing us to fuel our body with what it needs to reach peak performance. But nourishment is also so much more than the nutrient content of the foods we eat. It’s about crafting our lives with intention and care so that our habits, routines, and mindset work in alignment to support food and lifestyle choices that inspire us, help us to grow, and move us closer to becoming the best version of ourselves. I’m rooted in the belief that achieving a sustainable, healthy, balanced lifestyle can be easy, flexible and fun – you just need the right mindset and support.

Nourish to Flourish

A life in balance...

We are all unique with different needs, goals, lifestyles, and desires, That’s why I take care and consideration when working with my clients to understand them.

Untangling health issues, re-nourishing the body, restoring a sense of wellness – these are all essentials that can be supported with the right nutritional and lifestyle guidance. But crafting a flourishing life takes more.

Imagine having a guide on your side who could help you create space, quiet the overwhelm, and find calm. Someone who sees you and who has been there before. Someone who could help you design a flourishing life that you love.

Nourishment is about so much more than the nutrient content of foods that we eat. It’s about crafting a life with intention and care…

As a nutritional therapist, I apply nutrition and lifestyle medicine sciences in the promotion of health, peak performance, and individual care. I would love to have a friendly chat to discuss which programme might be right for you.

FAQs

Nutritional therapy is the application of nutrition and lifestyle medicine sciences in the promotion of health, peak performance, and individual care. Registered Nutritional Therapists assess and identify potential nutritional imbalances and understand how these may contribute to an individual’s symptoms and health concerns.

Registered Nutritional Therapists consider each individual to be unique and recommend personalised nutrition and lifestyle programmes rather than a ‘one size fits all’ approach. As such, my approach is tailored specifically for you, taking into account your unique health journey, your health goals, and dietary preferences.

I offer my services in the form of programmes because I have found that working together over a period of months is the most helpful and effective way for my clients to achieve their desired results.

Health issues often build up over many years, and it can take time to unravel and address them. It also takes time and commitment to establish new habits and make diet and lifestyle changes a seamless part of your life. Working together over a period of months allows us to achieve sustainable change, and it allows time for the beneficial effects of recommended changes to be felt, particularly in a more complex case.

Once you become my client, you have my full commitment to helping you achieve your goals. This means that I invest significant time both during the programme and outside of the programme, for example, in researching your case, interpreting lab results, preparing supplement protocols, developing supporting materials, and so forth. In a programme you receive the maximum value from everything I have to offer.

It’s very important to me that you feel comfortable and excited about making this commitment so I always offer a free initial discovery session so that we can get to know each other and decide if we are a good fit. During this session, I will get to know your situation and recommend the programme I believe will work best for you.

Prior to your first appointment, you will be asked to complete a comprehensive health questionnaire and food diary. I will analyse this information before we meet and conduct relevant research into your case. This will help me to identify potential underlying causes of your symptoms or health concerns.

Our initial consultation will last approximately 75 – 90 minutes. My main goal during this session is to get to know you and your unique health journey. I will ask you relevant questions about your dietary habits and health history, building upon the information already provided, to form a deeper understanding.

Normally I am already able to provide you with insights into what might be contributing to your health symptoms at the first appointment. I may recommend that you undertake functional testing with private labs to get clearer insights into your symptoms.

We will work together to design a motivating plan, and we will agree the specific diet and lifestyle changes to be undertaken. I may also recommend supplements to support you alongside changes to your diet and lifestyle. Most importantly, I will provide you with lots of support, encouragement, and resources to help you along the way.

Because Nutritional Therapists work with imbalances in the functioning of all the body’s systems, we can provide support regarding almost any health concern. Examples of common issues experienced by clients include:

  • Digestive issues
  • Fatigue
  • Low energy
  • Sleep problems
  • Weight loss
  • Mood and wellbeing
  • Stress and anxiety
  • Fertility
  • Skin issues
  • Hormonal concerns
  • Healthy aging

Some clients simply feel confused as to what they should be eating and wish to work on establishing better habits and routines to make a healthy lifestyle more of a priority.

I currently offer my consultations online via Zoom. My clients find this to be a very comfortable option, and it’s also convenient as it saves on travel time.

Often a few targeted changes can have a powerful impact on how a person feels. But sometimes we just don’t know how long it will take for improvement to be felt.

Progress can depend on the complexity of the case, how long symptoms or illnesses have been building, and the amount of time and focus a client can give to their programme, amongst other factors. As you might imagine, each client’s situation is unique.

Each time we meet, we will evaluate how you feel and how the changes are working for you. Each small step forward is a step in a positive direction, and we will adapt our plan as needed along the way.

Your programme will be grounded in food and lifestyle changes – our main goal is to help you create a nourishing lifestyle that you love!

However, supplements can be very beneficial in combination with a balanced lifestyle. A therapeutic dose of targeted nutrients can help rebalance the body and may support you to feel better more quickly while you take time to establish longer-term diet and lifestyle changes.

But do not worry if you prefer not to take supplements – we can accomplish a lot through diet and lifestyle changes alone.

Please note that costs of supplements are charged separately.

Registered Nutritional Therapists are trained to consider interactions between pharmaceutical drugs, foods, and nutrients. Your health plan will consider your current medical prescriptions.

I refer clients to private laboratories for functional testing when it will help us more efficiently determine the direction of the therapy.

Please note that costs associated with functional tests are charged separately. Some tests can be undertaken by your doctor.
